PURPOSE:To display the name of an area by simple operation utilizing a map and to simplify the input of information annexed to an address by detecting the indication of a specific point on a displayed map, inputting the positional. information of the point and displaying the name of an area including the point based upon the inputted positional information. CONSTITUTION:A map information database 11 is divided in each section displayed on a menu list and constituted of map image information stored as image information and area data expressing the name of an area described in the map image as a character code. When one section is selected from the menu list and a map input method is selected, a processing part extracts the section from the database 11 and displays the extracted section on a display device 12. When a point in an area a-b-c-d-e-a (a to e are coordinate values) is indicated by an input indicating device, the name, e.g. town name data 'TOZAI-CHO 1-', of the area corresponding to ID in the database 11 is displayed in a data input area. |
