PURPOSE:To maintain high vehicle drivability during a traffic jam and during a non-traffic jam even if a vehicle running resistance is varied. CONSTITUTION:It is determined whether traffic jam decision is going on or not (S2), it is determined whether hill climbing travel is carried out or not (it is determined whether a vehicle running resistance is large or not) (S3), and then, shift to the first range is forbidden if the traffic jam decision is going on and hill climbing travel is not carried out (S4, 55). On the other hand, if the traffic jam decision is going on and the hill climbing travel is carried out, speed change control is carried out on the basis of a speed change pattern for a hill climbing road (S2, S3, S7). If the traffic jam decision is not going on, the speed change control is carried out according to the hill climbing decision (S2, S6, S7). In this way, both of improvement in vehicle drivability during a traffic jam on a flat road and the like and improvement in drivability in the case of a large vehicle running resistance on the hill climbing road and the like can be accomplished. |
