PURPOSE:To provide the method enabling sharp and varicolored multicolor printing even when printing is applied to thermal color forming paper. CONSTITUTION:In a multicolor thermal transfer method wherein a thermal transfer sheet 2 wherein a hot-melt ink layer is formed on one surface of a base material film is superposed on thermal color forming paper 1 and heat is applied to the thermal color forming paper 1 from the rear surface of the thermal transfer sheet 2, the temp. transmitted to the surface of the thermal recording paper through the thermal transfer sheet is controlled to temp. equal to or lower than the color forming temp. of the thermal recording paper.
