PURPOSE:To easily obtain an oriented film having a uniform thickness by flexographic printing by incorporating a propylene glycol mono-n-butyl ether at a specific ratio into a solvent component. CONSTITUTION:The propylene glycol mono-n-butyl ether (PGBE) to be used in the solvent component of this liquid crystal orienting agent is formed of a structure having low surface tension and further, having a hydroxyl group at one of the molecule and an alkyl group at the other and, therefore, the surface tension of the liquid crystal orienting agent is lowered and a good leveling property is exhibited by incorporating the same into the solvent component. The content ratio of the PGBE in the solvent component is 20 to 50wt.%, more preferably 25 to 40wt.%. A prescribed amt. of the PGBE is incorporated into the solvent component or the prescribed amt. of the PGBE is added prior to use into the liquid crystal orienting agent without contg. the PGBE. The liquid crystal display element having the excellent uniformity of a screen free from unequal display is obtd. |
