The process involves placing a plate material over a cushion shaped pipe section and then pressing a stamp with the same shape as the cushion down against the plate to deform it. The pipe section is pressed down whilst it is in the cushion, at and along the line which will form the join with the other half section to give a whole pipe, so that a smaller pipe diameter than is desired in the end prod. is obtd. The pipe half section is removed from the cushion, following which its diameter recovers to the desired size. |
