A self-supporting top structure of a body of a vehicle, e.g. a bus, and a procedure for assembly thereof. The top structure is assembled of interconnected sectional beams (1, 2), and said top structure comprises two elongated side sections (1), which are longitudinal to the vehicle, parallel with each other and spaced from each other, and a plurality of transverse sections (2), which are affixed to the side sections transversely to their longitudinal direction and spaced from each other to extend over the space between the side sections. The top structure comprises two dimensionally accurate assembly jig plates (3) and junction elements (4) for affixing the jig plates (3) to both ends of the side sections (1) transversely between the side sections to keep the side sections accurately at a predetermined distance from each other, and said assembly jig plates have been affixed to the side sections prior to affixing the transverse sections to the side sections, in order to achieve a dimensionally accurate top structure. |
