ROLLING ROLL SURFACE INSPECTING APPARATUS BY ULTRASONIC WAVE

PURPOSE:To provide a roll surface inspecting apparatus by ultrasonic waves which probes defects automatically and by which the defect level can be set easily and whose operational processes are simplified. CONSTITUTION:A roll 4 is installed in a grinding machine 2 in the way it can rotate and a reciprocally moving stand 2a is installed in the way it can move right and left by a guide rail 2b. A probe 3 installed in the reciprocally moving stand 2a is set to face to the surface of the roll 4 in the way it can freely be moved to or separated from the roll 4 and at the time of probing a defect, the contact face of the probe 3 is pressed to the surface of the roll 4 by a prescribed pressure. An ultrasonic wave reception part 3a is formed in the inside of the probe 3 and whether a defect exists or not is detected by receiving the reflected waves of ultrasonic waves radiated out of the reception part 3a.
