PURPOSE: To obtain an improved corner roller lubricant for a belt drive magnetic recording tape cartridge. CONSTITUTION: This data retention device has a type, in which a central bore receiving a shaft 20 is formed and a roller 50, on which a shaft 51 is installed, is mounted. A lubricant is applied between the shaft and a roller, and the lubricant contains perfluoropolyether capable of being bonded with the surface of the shaft 20 and having at least one pendant functional section.
