PURPOSE:To provide an image distinguishing method and an image distinguishing apparatus to surely and easily distinguish whether a sheet to be examined is a copy or not by electrophotographic apparatus, this image distinguishing method to distinguish whether an image is formed from a coloring material consisting of mainly a thermally plastic (fusable) resin or not involves overlaying a distinguishing sheet on the sheet to be examined and confirming whether the image of the sheet to be examined adheres to the distinguishing sheet after pressing the image part of the sheet to be examined and the distinguishing sheet in closely attaching state and heating them. CONSTITUTION:A distinguishing sheet 1 is overlaid on a sheet 2 to be examined, and after pressing and heating a part of the distinguishing sheet 1 to the sheet 2 to be examined by a pressing and attaching part 10-2, the distinguishing sheet 1 is separated from the sheet 2 to be examined and whether the image is copy or not is judged based on whether the image of the sheet 2 to be examined adheres to the distinguishing sheet 1 or not. |
