An asymmetric pinion (1) on the crankshaft (2) transmits mechanical energy to an asymmetric pinion (3) on a primary shaft (4) carrying the flywheel. This assembly allows an angular speed of the crankshaft greater than the driven speed of the primary shaft. The small radius of the crankshaft asymmetric pinion is aligned with the large radius of the asymmetric pinion on the primary shaft in a chosen point of the engine stroke. An angular speed of the crankshaft greater than the engine speed reduces the stroke of the piston. The primary shaft rotational speed can be reduced relative to the crankshaft rotational speed by using a double asymmetric pinion.
