PURPOSE: To provide the detecting method and device for effectively detecting the level of the abnormality in the metabolite of urine in advance, by which a sophisticated metabolism inspection, can be reduced to the utmost, and the inspection time, labor and cost can be reduced. CONSTITUTION: A detecting method comprises a process for measuring the amount of creatinine in urine of a human or an animal, a process for compensating the change of the urine density by using the amount of the creatinine in urine as the internal standard, and measuring the density of the total metabolite in the urine, and a process for comparing the density of the total metabolite in the urine with the reference value corresponding to the density of the total metabolite in the urea of a human or an animal having no cacochymia. A detecting device 10 comprises an ultraviolet ray oxidation unit 16 for oxidizing the metabolite in an urine sample into carbon dioxide, an organic carbon separator 18 for diffusing the carbonic acid gas from the oxidized sample, and a carbon dioxide detector for measuring the amount of the carbon dioxide obtained from the sample. |
