摘要

PURPOSE:To provide an image processor capable of optimizing the bit number per pixel of a frame memory according to the quality of a displayed image. CONSTITUTION:A frame memory 63 is provided and image data written in this frame memory 63 are read in sequence and used as data for image display. A recognizing means 42 is provided so as to recognize whether the image data written in the frame memory 63 is one wherein each pixel is written by a first bit number or one wherein each pixel is written by a second bit number different from the first bit number. This device is further provided with a first image data reading means 64 for reading the image data from the frame memory 63 as one wherein each pixel is the first bit number and a second image data reading means 65 for reading the image data from the frame memory 63 as one wherein each pixel is the second bit number. It is still further provided with a means for switching the first image data reading means 64 and the second image data reading means 65 based on recognized information from the recognizing means.
