A nitriding method is carried out in a furnace with a temp. of 500-600 deg C and low pressure. A gas mixt., injected onto the parts to be treated, consists of at least ammonia plus a catalyst forming the dissociation of ammonia to active nitrogen and opposing the recombination of active nitrogen to molecular nitrogen.
