<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a five-dimensional input device which can input the quantities of rotation on three mutually orthogonal axes and axial movement quantities at the same time by providing rotational angle detecting means which detect the angles of three-dimensional rotation on the three mutually orthogonal axes of a 1st spherical body as axes of rotation and movement quantity detecting means which detect the angles of two-dimensional rotation on the two mutually orthogonal axes of a 2nd spherical body as axes of rotation and detect the movement quantities on the two-dimensional plane of a housing. CONSTITUTION:On the top surface of the housing 10, the 1st spherical body 18 which is exposed by more than a half as much as the surface area is provided, and on the reverse surface of the housing 10, the 2nd spherical body 42 whose surface is partially exposed is placed. Then, the device is provided with the rotational angle detecting means (rollers 28, 30, and 32, and encoders 34, 36, and 38) which detect the angles of three-dimensional rotation of the 1st spherical body 18 and the movement quantity detecting means (rollers 46 and 48 and encoders 47 and 49) which detect the movement quantities of the housing 10 by detecting the angles of two-dimensional rotation of the 2nd spherical body 42. Consequently, the quantities of rotation on the three mutually orthogonal axes and the movement quantities in the two axial directions can be inputted by one hand at the same time.</p> |
