PURPOSE:To prevent picture quality after color conversion from deteriorating by giving a hue distribution range to a hue after conversion and performing color conversion processing so that the distribution of saturation in an original image is reflected. CONSTITUTION:This color conversion device is provided with a color component extracting means 4 which extracts lightness information, saturation information, and hue information, pixel by pixel, from image information in a color conversion area specified by a conversion area specifying means 3, a hue distribution extracting means 5 which finds a principal hue before color conversion and a hue distribution range before color conversion on the basis of respective pieces of hue information, a conversion information setting means 6 where principal hue after color conversion and a hue distribution after color conversion are set, and image information generating means 7 and 8 which generate and output image information after color conversion, pixel by pixel, on the basis of the principal hues and hue distribution ranges before and after color conversion so as to obtain the hue distribution range having a lightness distribution and a saturation distribution based upon the lightness information and saturation information. |
