PURPOSE:To automatically decide the appropriate position of a character string to which KANA (Japanese syllabary) is to be added among the same character strings existing in a document and to display KANA in an easy-to-see position without troubling a user. CONSTITUTION:When KANA setting to the arbitrary character string in document data is designated in a KANA setting character designation part 501, the intra-document data appearing frequency of the character string is detected in an appearing frequency detection part 502. The display/non-display of KANA to the same characters in the document is decided based on the appearing frequency information in a KANA compulsory display part 503, a KANA display page decision part 504 and a KANA display part 505. Since a display interval is set to be large to the character string whose appearing frequency is high, and set to be narrow to the character string whose appearing frequency is low in accordance with the intra-document appearing frequency on the character strings where KANA is displayed, KANA is displayed in the character string of the appropriate position in the document. |
