The bearing has cylindrical rollers (7) between inner and outer traces (4,3), together with other rollers (5) between the end faces of the outer race and thrust races (6) secured to the spindle (2), on which they slide to adjust the pre-loading. The radial and axial dimensions of the races are such as to leave damping gaps (10) in between, and to which damping fluid is fed via a passage (14) in the outer race. The gap width can be between 0.002 and 0.003 mm., and the lubricating oil can be used as the fluid, while the feed passage can be at the middle of the outer race. There can be annular grooves (15) at the inside edges of the outer race, to accommodate the thrust rollers (5). ADVANTAGE - Prevents or damps axial vibration transmitted to adjacent parts. |
