PURPOSE:To generate no collapse of characters and to display/output a font simplified and readable even after their intense contraction by omitting some from a number of strokes in the character images of a bit map image. CONSTITUTION:An original image of a bit map image is inputted (100) to extract (102) longitudinal- and lateral strokes, to omit (104) some strokes so as not to exceed the maximum number of strokes prescribed in the procedure 112, to contract (106) the images and to display/output (108) them. Further, a character size/contraction ratio is set (110) and, based on this setting, the maximum number of strokes is calculated (112) to give the reference in stroke omission. As stated above, strokes exceeding the prescribed number of strokes are omitted and displayed/outputted so that no strokes fuse with each other even in a contraction display of images. |
