PURPOSE:To make a color picture displayed on a screen the high-quality picture obtained by balancing the intensity of red, green and blue light though a display device is constituted so that the light from one light source is separated to the red, the green and the blue light and made incident on three liquid crystal panels and the color picture is displayed by enlarging and projecting the red, the green and the blue light emitted from the liquid crystal panels on the screen by a projection lens. CONSTITUTION:A light incident system separating the light from the light source 12 to the red, the green and the blue light and making them incident on three liquid crystal panels 7R, 7G and 7B is constituted of dichroic mirrors 16a and 16b and mirrors 17a, 17b, 17c, 18, 19 and 20 making the respective color light R, G and B separated by the mirrors 16a and 16b incident on the respective liquid crystal panels so as to make the red, the green and the blue light incident on the respective liquid crystal panels as the light whose polarization component in an identical direction is intense. |
