PURPOSE:To improve the startability of an engine when intake air is low in temperature by heating only the intake air on the central side of a cylinder among the rotating flow of air taken into the cylinder through a heat source to facilitate the ignition of fuel. CONSTITUTION:The tip of an intake port 2 assembled in a cylinder head 1 is slit into two spots, and an intake port 2a on one side is arranged at a position La which is near the inner peripheral wall face 3a of a cylinder 3 and away from the center of the cylinder 3 in the longitudinal direction of the intake port J An intake port 2b on the other side is arranged at a position which is near the inner peripheral wall face 3a of the cylinder and near the center of the cylinder 3 in the longitudinal direction of the intake port 2. A heating device 4 is provided at a position on the upstream side of the intake port 2b on one side, and can concentratingly heat the intake air 6 of a rotating flow B formed near the center of the cylinder. Thus the heated intake air 6 is concentrated at a spot near the center of the cylinder 3 to facilitate the certain ignition in spite of the atomized fuel being short in arrival distance at the time of starting an engine. |
