The tablet detergent compsn. useful for garments is composed of 10-50 wt.% of at least one of activators, 10-40 wt.% of an alkali metal carbonate, silicate or sulphate, 10-30 wt.% of a sodium alumino-silicate(zeolite), 1-10 wt.% of additives of a softener, a polyethylene glycol, a bleaching agent, an enzyme, etc., 10-40 wt% of a water-soluble polycarboxylic acid, 2-8 wt.% of an alkali metal carbonate and/or dicarbonate and 2-8 wt.% of a water-soluble decay-promoting powder i. e. hydroxy propyl methyl cellulose. The carboxylic acid is pref. citric acid, ethylene diamine tetracetate, nitrilo triacetate, succinic acid, furmalic acid, maleic acid, tartaric acid or glutamic acid.
