A process for coating extendable elastic support fabric with fully enclosing wrapping entails: (a) supplying the support material in the form of continuous belt (2), supplying the wrapping as continuous sheet strip (7) and having them simultaneously run through a guiding and wrapping appts. (9) in which the sheet strip is wrapped round the belt, (b) the formation of a tube (13) from the sheet strip to enclose the continuous belt fully by overlapping both edges of the sheet strip and (c) running tube and continuous belt together through a joining appts. (11) which by exerting pressure and applying heat joins the tube with the continuous belt and the overlapping edges together to form one sheet-coated belt (19). Also claimed is an appts. for implementation of the above process. It comprises: (d) the devices to supply the continuous belt and continuous sheet strip as a sealable transfer coating, (e) the guiding and wrapping appts. (9) to perform the function as in (b) above and (f) the joining appts. (11) to perform the function as in (c) above.
