The redn. gear and permanently meshed gear which transmit the drive from an electric motor are held together by a self-arresting device (5), in the direction of deployment of the spoiler, between input and output shafts (7,8) with flats supporting radially movable rollers (10) within a ratchet ring (14) having external teeth for engagement with a pawl.The head of the input shaft (7) is a hollow shaft (6) which surrounds the output shaft (8) and is fitted into the ratchet ring. A bracing strip (15) may be inserted between the ratchet ring and the rollers.
