The invention concerns separators for use in storage batteries. The separators comprise integral longitudinal and transverse ribs and have increased transverse and longitudinal rigidity, thus permitting a notable reduction in the plate thickness. They are preferably in the form of rolled goods, the ribbed structure preventing permanent deformation of the separators.
