Electrical cable insulation

The microporous PTFE insulation, for an electrical cable, is adhesive bonded to the surface of the conductor core. Pref. adhesion is formed by an extruded layer of fluoropolymer over the conductor surface. The insulation is sintered or unsintered into place. Where the insulation is a wound strip, at least the lowest wound layer is adhesive bonded to the conductor surface. The insulation strip is of PTFE or a suitable film oriented longitudinally and/or laterally, and with a thickness of 15-250 mu m and pref. 30-100 mu m.
