A process is disclosed for producing an air mattress that consists of a pump part (2) and of a part to be inflated by pumping. The pump part (2) contains an expanding material (6) and the wall that separates the pump part from the part to be inflated has a one-way discharge valve (10a) and a small hole for letting air flow back from the part to be inflated into the pump part (2). The pump part has an inlet and the part to be inflated has an outlet. In order to weld the wall (4) of the pump part between the top (1a) and bottom (1b) covering skins of the air mattress, a metallic tool (12) is used which forms part of a high frequency welding machine with two plates (29) that are applied on the outside of the covering skins (1a, 1b). The metallic tool is removed before the border of the air mattress is produced. A separable tool is used when placing the pump part inside the air mattress. |
