The prodn. of a solvent mixt. for supply to the high pressure pump of a HPLC appts. by pumping the solvents via respective controllable valves into a mixing chamber connected to the intake side of the pump, comprises pumping all the solvents by a single low pressure pump into the mixing chamber via respective valves held open in the requisite mixing ratio. Also claimed is an appts. for carrying out the above process.
