Prepn. of a non-fluid gel with temp.-dependent reversible light transmission, which contains nonionic and/or ionic surfactant(s) to cause turbidity, frost stabiliser, water and opt. usual additives, comprises (a) applying a homogeneous mixt. of an ethylenically unsatd. monomer and the other components, having low viscosity, to the position for use; and then (b) polymerisation to produce a cured polymer matrix in which the other components are uniformly dispersed.
