<p>The invention relates to an imaging apparatus (1) incorporating a dual-headed gamma camera modified for use with Positron Emission Tomography. Gamma cameras have been used in positron emitting tomography (PET). Collimators on each of the gamma cameras have reduced the amount of signal which the gamma cameras were able to detect. The present invention provides a modified dual-headed gamma camera which has the ability to image single photon emitting events without any limitation as to solid angle. The invention is more sensitive than existing systems. Use of fast digital signal processing (DSP) techniques and deconvolution using a point response function provide an enhanced image of an object.</p> |
