Process characterized in that a suspension of cellulose fibres or pulp sludge is formed in water, lime is then mixed with the suspension and a solution consisting of at least one mono or trivalent metallic salt sulfate or carbonate is added. Similarly, the addition of these two salts to one another results, in certain conditions, in the formation of a foam product. Preferably, when conditions are stoichiometric, the chemical reaction results in the formation of complex alkaline-earth salts without a significant excess of metallic salts. Otherwise it is advisable to add reinforcing agents to the suspension obtained from a non-stoichiometric reaction. The materials derived from this process have large number of applications.
|
