<p>A membrane effects the microfiltration of a suspension or separates gases. The membrane is a helical wire pipe. The medium being filtered passes between adjacent membrane wire windings. The winding is finely structured by roughening from the membrane inner wall to the membrane outer wall passages. The passages (7,7',7") converge in the direction of the smallest gap between the winding surfaces. Also claimed is a process to fabricate the filter (1) membrane by use of wire (3) material bearing a structured surface created during the wire manufacturing drawing process. The roughening depressions are 0.1 mu m deep or more and are created by embossing, milling or chemical etching.</p> |
