PURPOSE:To provide a color image recording apparatus capable of obtaining a color image having desired glossiness and excellent in color reproducibility. CONSTITUTION:An intermediate sheet 11 is brought into close contact with an intermediate sheet holder 1 by the self-adhesive force of the surface of the sheet holder 1 and the holding force of sheet holding members 6, 7 to record an image on the dyeing layer of the intermediate sheet 11 and, next, the recorded dyeing layer and an image receiving material 25 are superposed one upon another to be pressed and heated before peeled. The dyeing layer transferred to the image receiving material 25 is fixed by a medium of heat and pressure made possible to arbitrarily set to transfer and fix the recorded dyeing layer to the image receiving material 25 to form a color image having desired glossiness.
