PURPOSE:To produce an oil containing alicyclic hydrocarbons and having lowered benzene concentration and adjusted octane value by isomerizing a benzene-containing hydrocarbon oil under hydrogen gas pressure in the presence of a catalyst produced by supporting a group-8 metal on an MFI-type aluminosilicate, etc. CONSTITUTION:A benzene-containing hydrocarbon oil such as a catalytically reformed oil or a soft naphtha having a boiling point range of 30-100 deg.CC is used as a stock oil, and subjected to hydrogenative isomerization under a hydrogen pressure of 5-50 kg/cm<2> at a reaction temperature of 200-300 deg.C using a catalyst produced by supporting a group-8 metal such as platinum or palladium on an MFI-type aluminosilicate having an Si02/A1.0. ratio of 20-500 and/or a catalyst consisting of a mixture of an MFI-type aluminosilicate and a group-8 metal supported on an oxide such as SiO6 Al2 or A1203. The produced oil contains cyclohexane and methylcyclopentane, has decreased benzene concentration and suppressed increase in octane val.ue in the case of using soft naphtha as the stock oil or lowering of octane value in the case of using a soft catalytically cracked oil and is useful as gasoline, etc. |
