920,605. Magnetic sleeve recorders. PHONO-ELECTRIC A.G. Dec. 29, 1961 [Feb. 9, 1961], No. 46586/61. Class 40 (2). A machine using foldable, grooved, sleeve-form records, has a radially-expandible drum 9, comprising four quadrants 55 normally expanded to grip the sleeve by means of springs 63 and cones 57, 58, the whole drum rotating about a fixed cantilever spindle 38 to enable the sleeves to be loaded over the L.H. end of the drum. A layshaft 34, driven by a motor (Fig. 2, not shown) contacts either of two solenoid-disengaged rollers 90, 91 to produce a slow forward or a fast, back-spacing drive by engaging the diameters 88, 89 of the R.H. drum-cheek 60. A release-knob 14, connected to a cross-pin 74, engaging a face-cam 75, as shown developed in Fig. 5, withdraws the L.H. drum-cheek 59 and at the same time actuates a pull-rod 53 and linkage 49 to rock the head 47 about its upper guide-rail 42 to clear the drum. Finger-pressure at 12 may also release the head for sideways movement without releasing the grip of the drum on the sleeve.
|
