PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer sheet forming a sharp image having sufficient density and excellent in various fastnesses by providing a dye support layer supporting a dye represented by the specific general formulae on one surface of a base material sheet. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer sheet is formed by laminating a dye support layer including and supporting a dye represented by the formula A=N-N=B [wherein A is a structure represented by either one of the formulae I, II and B is a structure represented by the formula III (wherein Y is an oxygen atom, a dicyanomethylene group or the like, R3 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or the like, R2 and R4 are a hydrogen atom, a cyano group, a nitro group or the like and n and m are an integer of 1-2)] on one surface of a base material sheet. The dye support layer is a layer wherein the aforementioned dye is supported by an arbitrary binder resin. The obtained thermal transfer sheet can form a magenta image and is used in combination with yellow and cyan thermal transfer sheets to provide a full color image excellent in color reproducibility. |
