The heat resistant fabric is produced by (a) polymerization reacting an aromatic diamine i. e. 1,4-phenylene diamine with an aromatic diacid chloride i. e. terephthaloyl chloride and additionally 3,4'- oxydiphenylene terephthal amide in the polymerization solvent i.e. N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, N, N-dimethyl acetamide, hexamethyl phosphoamide, N, N, N', N'-tetramethyl urea and/or N, N-dimethyl formamide to obtain an aromatic polyamide prepolymer solution having 0.4-3.0 intrinsic viscosity, and (b) covering a knitted or woven fabric with the mixed solution of the prepolymer and a mica, and washing and drying the covered fabric.
