The grinding tool is formed by balls (28) spaced apart and spring-mounted in a table (14) supporting the work and above whose surface they protrude. Bearings (30) for the balls can form stops, determining the height for which they protrude. They can be thrust against the bearings by a medium under pressure. Each ball can be supported in a part-spherical recess (22) in a plunger (20) sliding in a cylindrical chamber (18) formed in the table.
