PURPOSE: To improve the resistance of an article to impact and wear by initially coating parts to be coated with zinc by an electric field method before an outer coating by electrostatic spraying is applied and then forming a layer of acrylic paint thereon. CONSTITUTION: An outer coating is applied by electrostatically spraying a thermosetting powder having a base of polyester resin or epoxy resin, and the outer coating is polymerized in a furnace to coat a metallic structural member formed of metallic parts or a composite wire. In this method, the following stages are performed before powder spraying. Namely, an initial coating is applied to the metallic parts or structural member by an electric field method. A layer of acrylic paint is then formed on the zinc coating, the layer of the acrylic paint is dried, and an intermediate acrylic coating acting as a binding lower layer between the metallic parts and outer coating and with a powder sprayed on the lower layer is specified. |
