The wind turbine (1) is mounted on top of a mast (2) with the turbine shaft (3) firmly located so that it is parallel with the mast centre line. The mast is pliable so that the wind turbine own wt. makes the mast top and the turbine shaft adopt an inclined position relative to the vertical plane. The mast at least in its upper part is pliable under the effect of the wind. The wind turbine blade is bendable towards the lee side under the effect of the wind. The machine has a mast which consists of one or more rigid parts combined with one or more pliable parts. A generator and possibly a gearbox are mounted at the mast top. Alternatively they can be placed at the mast base (5), or somewhere between the mast top and the base. Forces from the wind turbines are transmitted via a pliable shaft, articulated shaft, hydraulically or pneumatically. |
