PURPOSE:To obtain active carbon having an increased pore diameter and pore volume, an extended surface area and a reduced air permeation pressure loss while keeping a high hardness by using coal as a raw material. CONSTITUTION:The active carbon is a fine granular pellet, obtained from coal as a raw material and has >=90% hardness, 500-1000m<2>/cc surface area and >=0.1cc/cc volume in which the diameter of the pores in those present on the surface of the active carbon is 24-60Angstrom and further 0.5-2.5mm average grain diameter. The resultant active carbon maintains the adsorptivity and desorptivity for gases and has a long life. |
