PURPOSE:To reduce the rotational torque of a developing roller and simultaneously to set the film thickness of toner on the developing roller at an optimum value. CONSTITUTION:A toner layer regulating member 7 is brought into contact with the developing roller 3 with an arcuate contact face 10, to make the contact area of both of them small, so that the rotational torque of the developing roller 3 is suppressed lower. On the other hand, the length of an arcuate face in a direction opposite to the rotational direction CCW of the developing roller 3 from the contact part A of the arcuate contact face 10 with the developing roller 3 is limited to a proper range by a wall surface 12, so that the guiding action of the toner by the arcuate contact face 10 is secured while the excessive guiding action of the toner by the contact face 10 is suppressed and the toner of a proper quantity can pass between the arcuate contact face 10 and the developing roller 3 while being sufficiently electrified. |
