PURPOSE:To improve the connecting accuracy, efficiency for connecting and transmission efficiency of the connecting part to connect coated fiber of optical fiber ribbon having different pitches from each other. CONSTITUTION:Coated fibers of optical fiber ribbons T, T1 having pitches P, P1 different from each other are fusion-spliced. In this method, after each optical fiber (f) is exposed, the fiber is fitted to a curved groove with safe curvature in a specified range of a pair of reinforcing sheets 11 so that the pitch P is enlarged. Then, the reinforcing sheets 1, 1 are firmly adhered to each other to fix the optical fiber ribbon T to the reinforcing sheets. Thus, the top ends of coated optical fibers of the optical fiber ribbon with the increased pitch by the reinforcing sheets 1 and fixed to the reinforcing sheets is fixed to a fixing base 5 of a fusion-splicing machine to fusion-splice the coated fibers of the optical fiber ribbons. |
