发明名称 METHOD FOR REGENERATING OPTICAL FIBER
摘要 PURPOSE:To separate the material and small amts. of added elements of optical fibers to recover each structural component so that unnecessary optical fibers can be reused. CONSTITUTION:Plastic coating is removed from an optical fiber 24 and the optical fiber 24 as a raw wire is heated with plasma produced in a plasma generating zone 1 to ionize the small amt. of added elements, to separate these elements from the quartz glass, and to recover each element. The purified quartz glass 25 is then recovered. Trapped and recovering of ions in the plasma treating zone 2 is preferably done by applying high frequency waves corresponding to the ion-cyclotron resonance of the added elements on the high frequency electrodes 3-5 to increase the Larmor orbits of the resonated ions and to separate from the plasma. Then each element is collected by collecting electrodes 9-11. Further, when an org. material such as a plastic coating film is formed on the optical fiber, the fiber is cooled by dipping in liquid nitrogen and then slightly bent to peel the plastic coating film.
