PURPOSE:To provide the recording medium position detecting device and recording medium position detecting method which can accurately read out the recording position of a hole, a bar code, etc., on a conveyed medium (recording medium) within the conveyance time wherein the conveyed medium is conveyed on the conveyance path. CONSTITUTION:Accurate recording position detection can be performed by altering area section information in an area section information recording part 103 following up variation in the counter value of the trail end of a passenger ticket which is thrown in last. The area section information is altered by an area section information update part 102. Based on the altered area section information, a CPU 42 being a recording position area decision means decides the area section of the recording position of the reference hole, etc., of the recording medium which is thrown in last. |
