发明名称 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE
摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain uniform brightness (whiteness) and excellent display quality of a liquid crystal display device regardless of a power source for driving the liquid crystal by subjecting the liquid crystal layer side surface of substrate to such a treatment as to lessen the light reflection from electrode. CONSTITUTION:This liquid crystal display device is provided with an antireflection layer 15b between the upper substrate 11b and the electrode 12b. The reflectivity of the electrode 12b rises as high as max. >=6% in the case of absence of the antireflection layer but the reflectivity of the part 16b where there is no electrode is as small as 0.1%. There is eventually a difference of about 6% by wavelength in the transmittance between the part where there is electrode and the part where there is no electrode. The generation of difference in the brightness within the cell is thus resulted. In such a case, the value of the refractive index and thickness of the reflection layer 15b are changed by the thickness of the electrode 12b and the refractive indices of the substrate 11b, the liquid crystal layer 13 and the electrode 12b. The refractive indices of the substrate and the electrode are in a range of 1.45 to 2.00, 1.80 to 2.00 and the thickness of the electrode 50 to 150nm. The refractive index of the antireflection layer is in a range of about 1.60 to 1.80 and the thickness thereof 50 to 150nm.
