PURPOSE:To select a two-dimension image pickup mode or a three-dimension image pickup mode automatically in interlocking with the mount/withdrawal of an optical adaptor by providing a detection means detecting the mount/ withdrawal of the optical adaptor and a changeover means selecting the operating mode of a signal processing circuit based on the output of the detection means to the video camera. CONSTITUTION:In the stereoscopic video camera capable of picking up an image in any of the two-dimension image pickup mode or the three-dimension image pickup mode, while an optical adaptor 7 is withdrawn, since a detection switch 10 is open and a CPU (not shown) receives a low level output, the two- dimension image pickup mode is set. A two-dimension image is picked up in the image pickup area of a CCD in this mode. Furthermore, when the optical adaptor 7 is mounted onto a stereoscopic video camera main body 8, the detection switch 10 is closed, a high level output is given to the CPU and the three- dimension image pickup mode is set. The image pickup area is divided to the left and right in this mode, the right eye image and the left eye image are picked up in each division image pickup area while being compressed into 1/2 in the horizontal direction respectively. |
