PURPOSE:To make a display that keeps arousing a user's fresh interest in a navigation apparatus which updates and displays on a map screen a position of his vehicle as the vehicle runs. CONSTITUTION:A direction area number obtained by referring a running direction of a vehicle to a segment of a predetermined direction area, and a pattern A or B switched to be selected for every predetermined time are displayed as a symbol mark indicating a position of the vehicle and the running direction of the vehicle. When the vehicle is directed east, patterns A0, B0 are alternately displayed, showing the fact. like an animated film that the vehicle is running. As the running direction of the vehicle is changed to north, the symbol marks are changed from A0, B0 to A1, B1 and further to A2, B2. In this manner, the display can be made without boring a user. |
