The lateral view mirror (1) is attached to a vehicle. It has a fixing support (2) on which at least one movable mirror (5) is affixed, and the mirror has a convex surface (6). The fixing support is attached towards the front extremity of the vehicle.The convex surface of the mirror is arranged at an angle of between 90 and 180 degrees with respect to the axis of the vehicle. It is oriented from the back towards the front of the vehicle. The mirror may be mounted to pivot inside a housing (4) about a vertical axis (7) and a horizontal axis (8) to allow its angle to be adjusted at least in the horizontal direction.
