PURPOSE:To provide an optical deflector capable of suppressing vibration in a rotating axis direction generating in a polyhedral mirror accompanying rotation of this polyhedral mirror and deflecting a light beam with high accuracy. CONSTITUTION:This optical deflector is composed of the polyhedral mirror 1 which has plural reflection mirror surfaces 1a formed on its outer periphery, rotating bodies 2, 4 which are engaged via radial air dynamic pressure bearings to a fixing member 7 to which the polyhedral mirror 1 is fixed and which is erected on a housing 6, and a motor 8 which rotates these rotating bodies 2, 4 at a prescribed speed. The light deflector described above reflects and deflects the incident light beam on the reflection mirror surfaces 1a. An air pool 18 enclosed by the rotating bodies 2, 4 and the fixing member 7 is formed at the axial center of the radial air dynamic pressure bearings and is provided with a speaker cone 21 for changing the pressure in this air pool 18 by vibrating itself so as to face the air pool 18. The driving signal of a voice coil 22 successively connected to this speaker cone 21 is formed corresponding to the displacement in the rotating axis direction of the rotating bodies 2, 4. |
