The two stage compressor unit consists in each stage of a centrifugal compressor (12, 14) provided with an impeller wheel or roller (16, 18) coaxial to the other compressor. The first stage compressor (12) is fed by two air entry ducts (30, 2).The unit is characterised in that the two compressors (12, 14) are connected between them by the intermediary of two annular housings (38, 40), coaxial to the impeller wheels (16, 18) of the compressors. The first housing is connected to the first compressor (12) and is termed the transfer housing, the second housing (40) is connected to the second compressor (14) and is termed the compression housing. The housings are connected by ducting (42, 44) which is aligned axially circumferentially around the axis of the impeller wheels and straddles one of the air inlets (32) of the first compressor positioned between the housings (38, 40).
